Terms of use
The short version, because it is a short thing
Draft — not yet approved
Taking part
What you are agreeing to by joining a competition.
- Play is a tool, not the competition
- The competition belongs to your club and is run by its organiser. Play records what happens and applies the rules the organiser set. Disputes about a match are settled by the organiser, not by us.
- The organiser decides who plays
- Having a join link is not the same as being in. Every player is approved by hand, and an organiser can suspend or withdraw somebody. Withdrawal moves everyone below up one and cannot be undone; coming back means starting at the bottom.
- Report results honestly
- The winner reports the score and it is applied immediately, with nothing for the loser to confirm. That only works on trust. An organiser can correct a result, and both the original and the correction stay on the record.
- Your phone number is for arranging matches
- You see an opponent’s number while you have a match on with them, and for nothing else. Using it for anything other than arranging that match is a good reason for your organiser to remove you.
- Under 16
- A parent or guardian has to agree before you can be admitted, and the organiser confirms that with them directly.
What we do not promise
Said plainly rather than buried.
- That it will always be available
- Play may be down, slow, or briefly wrong. If a deadline falls while it is unavailable, your organiser can put it right — that is exactly what the correction tools are for.
- That injuries are our concern
- Tennis is played at your own risk, as it was before this existed. Play arranges nothing and supervises nothing.
- That it will stay free, or stay at all
- This is early software run by a small team. If it is going to change or stop, your organiser will be told first and with enough notice to get the ladder out.
- Who these terms are with
- To confirm — the same question as on the privacy page: whether the agreement is with the club or with Espanoso, and which country’s law applies.
